Faith Statement

The Missionheart Community believes:

       1. In one God who is creator of all things.

      2. In the integrity of God. Although we use Trinitarian (meaning, Father, Son and Holy Spirit)     language, God is one.

      3. That Jesus Christ is the Son of God. That He died and rose again as was foretold in the Old Testament, so we can have a relationship with God and experience His Kingdom.

      4. That we can only be put right with God through faith by confessing Jesus as Lord and asking for forgiveness for our sins (those things which have isolated us from God and relationship with Him).

      5. That the Holy Spirit has been poured out on us to empower us, to teach us and to guide us.

      6. That the Bible is God’s written word to us.

     7.  In one Church, made up of all people who believe that Jesus Christ is Lord, of which we are one gathering.

      8. That to be a follower of Jesus Christ is to be committed to His cause.

Purpose and Mission

Missionheart’s belief is that all we do must be about relationship, and that our primary relationship must be with Jesus. We desire and need to become more and more intimate with Jesus and assist others towards the same. In doing this we will be fulfilling the great commission and achieving our God breathed dreams and purpose for our lives. The purpose, meaning, healing and hope that are natural by-products of this deepening relationship with the one true living God will naturally flow into other relationships, our relationship with self, and a life commitment to the cause of Christ Jesus.

Living out this powerful mission statement; “Through intimacy with Jesus bringing healing and wholeness to the people,” is the path to fullness of life. Intimacy with Jesus will help us to see the world and everyone in it through His eyes. It will mean, among other things, a better world view and self view, healthier relationships, an increased social conscience, a greater ability to deal with frustration and opposition. It will open doors for God to work in great power in and through our lives both individually and as a community.

The Missionheart Community exists to:

       - Help the people we are called to serve find an ever-deepening personal intimacy with Jesus Christ.

       - Create an atmosphere where people can experience God’s love and a Christian faith community.

       - Help people find acceptance, belonging, faith, hope, healing, wholeness and freedom.

We will facilitate this process by establishing a local, culturally relevant, worshiping community that:

     - Is open to the Holy Spirit and God’s leading.

     - Practices personal, relational faith sharing (evangelism) and faith coaching (discipleship).

     - Practices faith in Jesus, prayer and worship as a way of life.

     - Offers a range of programs and services that are accessible, creative, innovative and practical in   addressing the needs of the people of the city.

     -  Exercises New Testament Biblical principles.

All ministry will be based upon the principle that we are to act with charitable concern for and to help all persons in need of any assistance through the practical expression of Christian faith in action, regardless of the race, gender, social status or religious affiliation of the person concerned (taken from Missionheart and Missionworx Constitutions).

Core Values

The following are the Core Values of Missionheart (not in order of importance):

      Intimacy with Jesus:

  • We focus all we do on Jesus and His Kingdom.
  • We practice openness to the Holy Spirit and God’s leading.
  •  We rely on the power of God.

Relationships, not programs or empty religion:

  • We use simple, functional structures and programs to serve the people, not people to serve the programs (avoiding over-programming and complicated structures).
  • We lead and coach (disciple) by example, then instruction.
  • We share with those who want to receive (relational faith sharing and coaching).

      Christian faith community:

  • We are a community committed to believing in and following Jesus.
  • We live our lives as an expression of obedience and submission to Him and inviting His     presence into our community.
  • We are a community that seeks after and submits to the Word of God.
  • We encourage each other to follow Jesus more closely, promoting integrity within our community.

Gift ministry - all who believe in Jesus and receive His indwelling Spirit have a personal call and ministry to God’s service as they follow Jesus. This is empowered by a gift, or gifts, of the Holy Spirit, as equals in God’s sight, regardless of position or gifting:

  • We are mutually submissive to one another as we use our gifts for the common good.
  • We work to provide followers of Jesus within our community with opportunities to discover, explore and master the expression of their God-given gifting.
  • We believe all spiritual gifts are available to all people as God chooses.

      Being a 24 hour church:

  • We know that following Jesus isn’t a spectator sport.
  • We practice faith, prayer and worship as a way of life (not just program attendance).
  • We prepare for and work towards around-the-clock ministry.

  • We are mission-focused. Working out of a faith community context to those who don’t have a relationship with Jesus and/or are in need, with the desire to see the great commission fulfilled and our community grow.
  • We desire to see people taking part in our supportive, life-giving faith community as functioning members and partners in the cause of following Jesus Christ.
  • We practice experiential faith not conceptual faith. The Good News of Jesus Christ is demonstrated through the power of God working in the lives of people and the world around us.
  • We attach importance to relevance (especially cultural) with integrity.
  • We desire to express unconditional love to all we meet.

      Prayer and strategic intercession:

  • We express prayer and intercession as being formative, foundational and functional in every aspect of the life of Missionheart. It is not just beneficial; rather it is essential on both personal and corporate levels.
  • We practice spiritual warfare, our focus is always God and obedience to Him and we resist Satan in light of this, not allowing Him to put us off our call (James 4:7).
  • We acknowledge the power of God and His salvation in Jesus Christ and pray for this salvation, healing, deliverance, miracles and God’s divine intervention.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for He has anointed me to preach Good News for the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the downtrodden will be freed from their oppressors, and that the time of the Lord’s favour has come.” – Jesus (NLT) Luke 4: 18-19
